Choosing a long-term care facility for your loved one can be difficult. You want a place where your loved one will be cared for by a caring and professional staff, where the services are superb, and the surroundings are comfortable and friendly. You want Fayetteville City Hospital & Geriatric Center.
Fayetteville City Hospital (FCH), a not-for-profit facility, has served Northwest Arkansas since 1912 and has a long heritage of providing quality care. A member of Washington Regional Medical System, FCH is supported by the area’s largest medical center, Washington Regional. FCH specialized in caring for the elderly with a variety of services, including a recuperative care unit, a licensed nursing home, and an inpatient psychiatry program.
Home-like Surroundings Fayetteville City Hospital residents feel at home in a safe and caring family-like atmosphere. Common areas within FCH are bright and cheerful. We have a special room for private parties, two solariums, and the grounds feature a lovely flower-filled courtyard. Residents’ rooms are attractive and designed to allow residents to display cherished, personal belongings so they feel comfortable and at home.
Outstanding Care Fayetteville City Hospital’s tradition of excellence stands on high-quality care. Our team of healthcare professionals closely evaluates each patient to maximize his or her full potential. Nurses, physicians, a certified activities supervisor, social workers, dietitians, therapists and other professionals work together to take care of each resident’s special needs.
Physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapists are available to those patients needing these services. To meet individual residents’ medical needs, many other healthcare professionals make regular visits to the facility.
Recuperative Care Fayetteville City Hospital helps patients who have been hospitalized and need continuing care before retuning home. Short-term care needs for patients who need to recuperate from hospitalization due to illness or injury may qualify for skilled care services paid for by Medicare or other health insurance providers.
Nursing Home Care When a family member can no longer live at home, Fayetteville City Hospital is the next best place for seniors needing a “home away from home.” Our nursing home residents’ rooms are made comfortable and familiar with personal mementos and furniture, favorite meals can be requested, and family members and pets are always welcome to visit.

Fayetteville City Hospital Auxiliary The FCH Auxiliary was organized on March 29, 1909 to help with community efforts to establish a hospital in Fayetteville. The group assisted in making contracts to secure contributions from the community to help lay the first foundation of FCH. The FCH Auxiliary continues to be active to provide strong support through volunteer hours and financial resources donated for the benefit of the residents and staff of Fayetteville City Hospital.
The Auxiliary members visit the nursing home residents, provide music programs, help with birthday parties and host special theme-based dinners. They also accompany residents on outings in the hospital van. Funds are raised through the Attic Thrift Shop (operating since 1957), The Bair Lair Gift Shop and through annual membership dues.
